Brett Knowles Realtor

Brett Knowles is one of the top selling realtors in Wilmington, North Carolina. In keeping with his high-quality print materials, Brett needed a new high-quality web site. There had been many changes to the MLS since his last site was created and it is now possible to search the entire inventory of Wilmington homes. He wanted a web site that would be information rich as well as attractive and easy to navigate.
Several forms were created to allow users to contact him for information and newsletters. A real estate news service was seamlessly integrated into his site to give his clients the most up to date information. Highly accessible JavaScripted navigation keeps the user oriented on every page.
Eden Institute - A multicultural heritage center contacted us to build an attractive web site promoting their new African Diaspora Concourse. Care was taken to design navigation that is intuitive to the client. More interactivity as well as on line sign up for all their programs is in the works at this time. The client is maintaining their site using Contribute (by Macromedia).
A special Cascading Style Sheet was utilized so that when the pages are printed, there are no graphics to waste customers' color ink. Only the informational text prints in black and white.

Island Training solutions provides hands-on training solutions for IBM® Rational® developer tools. The Flash site they had when originally contacting VioletSky Design, was blocking the search engines from spidering their site. Thus, their Google and Yahoo referrals were dismal. They wanted a fully indexable site with a fresh new look.
Their new site was coded to Web Standards which by nature creates a site that is search-engine friendly. The Flash logo and wave sound that they loved, was integrated into the new, accessible HTML web site. The site was set up so that daily maintenance could be handled with Macromedia Contribute.
Ken Pope came to VioletSky Design for a redesign of his current site. His desire was to have a site that is not only accessible using screen readers and assistive technology, but also a web site that is attractive. This site allows those without the ability to change text size and contrast through their preferred browser to have that ability using a server-side style switcher (PHP).
Each section of the site has a different color and image, but utilizing cookies, the user has a consistent journey through the site in their preferred style. The example to the right shows the front page in the default style as well as the high contrast black & white option. Recently, Joe Clark, accessibility guru, mentioned Ken's site as one of eight sites that have gotten the combination of design and accessibility right. You can read the article -- High Accessibility, High Design.
We recently split his original site into four separate sites due to the diverse content that had developed. Because the site was set up using XHTML, CSS with Dreamweaver templates, Ken was able to do much of the new work himself under the supervision of VioletSky Design.
